North Carolina Mothers of Multiples Scholarship

     In 1999 a scholarship committee was formed.  The purpose of the NC MOM scholarship is to assist in serving and advancing the education needs of

selected recipients.  The scholarship is available to any NC MOM member for use by herself or her children. 

 

The first scholarships were awarded in 2001 to Sally and Betsy Riddle, twin daughters of Susan Riddle.  The girls attend the University of NC in Charlotte.

    

The 2002 scholarship was awarded to Lisa Elkins from Asheville.  Lisa finished nursing school and is working at Pikeville Methodist Hospital in the ICU. 

She and her husband have 5 children; the youngest are twins.


     Brett and Stacy Cline received the 2003 scholarship at convention in Asheville.  Brett attends UNC Chapel Hill and is studying international business. 

Stacy is enrolled at UNC Charlotte and is majoring in law enforcement.  Brett and Stacy’s parents are Tim and Carolyn Cline from Hickory.

 

In 2009, there were 3 scholarship recipients: 

Brandi Johnson, a twin mom from Cape Fear, is attending UNC-Wilmington for a Nursing degree.

 She and her husband have 3 daughters, the twins are the youngest.

Keri Cline, daughter of Carolyn Cline of Catawba Valley and Double Digits, is attending UNC-Charlotte pursuing a BA in Art with a concentration in Photography and Drawing.

Brett Cline, twin son of Carolyn Cline of Catawba Valley and Double Digits, is attending UNC-Chapel Hill pursuing a BA in International Studies: Environmental Politics.

 Brett is also our only two-time recipient of the NCMOM scholarship.

 

The 2010 scholarship was awarded to Kim Webster. Kim is a member of Lake Norman Mothers of Multiples. She has a bachelor’s in

Biology and Chemistry and Master’s of Health Administration. Kim was able to use the scholarship while adding a graduate-level concentration area in Biology.

Dear Applicant,

We are pleased to extend this special invitation to apply for the North Carolina Mothers of Multiples (NCMOM) annually awarded scholarship.  This fund was created to serve the educational advancement needs of NCMOM’s and their families.  All funds must be used for education past the high school level.

Please complete the package in its entirety so that we may fully process your application.  There are some pages of the application that require several copies.  Please feel free to copy them after you have completed the data on the first copy.  By completing the application packet and returning it on time you will secure your place to be officially considered by the NCMOM scholarship review board.  Scholarship funds will only be paid out to a verified learning institution.  Any classes or seminars will be considered based on their ability to serve and advance the educational needs of the applicant.  Please enclose any information about the institution or class that you feel will assist reviewers in making their recommendations.

Please mark you calendars with these important dates:

March 15-- Postmark deadline for complete application packet to be received by Melissa Garland. It is the responsibility of the applicant to confirm arrival of your application packet to her.

April--Scholarship Committee reviews the applications and has them scored. 

May--Scholarship recipient(s) are selected and announced after the Mid-Term Meeting is held.

November--Official ceremony at NCMOM convention

Below is a detailed check list to help insure you submit a complete application package.

*It is important for you to put your name only on page 1.  All other pages will be scored anonymously. Anyone writing a letter of reference/ recommendation should refer to you by pronouns such as: she, her, him, etc. Do not use your name on these recommendations.

___Important Information page with school information (Incoming Freshman Only- if you cannot complete until a school has been selected please indicate in your            package)

___Page 1 of application – Applicant Identification- (1 copy)

___Page 2,3, and 4 of application – Applicant History, Need for Scholarship, Club Reference- (3 copies)
___Essay – 100 to 500 typewritten – “How this Scholarship could/would change my life” (3 copies)
___Letter of Personal Reference (must be a non-family member and reside outside of your household) (3 copies)
___Most recent educational transcripts* (3 copies)

___Recent Photo of Applicant

 

*Note, if you are applying for a scholarship to be used for Continuing Education and transcripts are not available, please substitute with a current or recent work reference (In addition to your personal reference).
